Student Workshops
Our Student Workshops offer informal, supportive spaces for students interested in animal rights law to present ideas, receive feedback, and discuss their work with peers and members of the Centre.
Registration is open for the 2026 Student Workshop in Animal Rights Law in Cambridge
18 September 2026
The Centre is thrilled to host our first Student Workshop in Animal Rights Law at Jesus College, Cambridge, UK, on Friday 18th September 2026.
This one-day event is designed to provide students with an interest in animal rights law an opportunity to develop and share ideas on the subject with the support of members of our Centre team. The emphasis of this Workshop is on exchange, development, and conversation rather than polished products.
We welcome applications from the following groups:
Students who have already completed a dissertation, paper, essay, or research project on animal rights law (and may want to publish their work)
Students who are currently writing on an animal rights-related legal topic
Students who have not yet started writing but have a well-developed idea or proposal they would like to discuss
Contributions may take one of the following forms:
Completed papers
Dissertation or thesis chapters
Essay projects
Works in progress
Research proposals or project pitches
Topics may concern any aspect of animal rights law or related interdisciplinary questions. Selected participants will give a short presentation of their project (approximately 10–15 minutes), followed by discussion and feedback.
Applications are open to undergraduate and postgraduate students who have not (yet) embarked on a PhD.
To apply, please send Dr Eva Bernet Kempers (eva@animalrightslaw.org) a short abstract or proposal (max. 300 words) and a copy of your CV.
Application Deadline: 3 July 2026 🗓️
Participants will be notified about the outcome of their application shortly thereafter. Places are limited to allow for in-depth discussion.
The Workshop is free of charge. Lunch and drinks during the Workshop day are included. Students will have to cover their own travel and accommodation (if needed). A limited hardship fund is available to contribute towards travel - please add a statement regarding your reasons to apply for a hardship fund in your applications.
