Our Impact
Our Centre in numbers
Each of the numbers below represents a crucial stitch in the fabric of animal rights law, and it is our honour to help lead the charge in this vibrant field.
Animal Rights Law Teaching Community
Since 2020, the Centre has delivered nine Law Lecturers’ Workshops, attended by 88 law lecturers and professors from 27 different countries. This has led to the establishment of more than 35 animal rights law courses that are currently being taught to more than 800 students per year. These courses span 11 countries and 4 continents. As well as developing courses which have an ongoing ripple effect in the lives of students, and normalising the teaching of animal rights law at law faculties around the world, the programme develops a network of forward-thinking lecturers who can support each other in future.
Our next Law Lecturers’ Workshops will take place in Oklahoma City, USA (July 2026) and Rejika, Croatia (September 2026).

“I hated racism, sexism and classism, too, but why stop there? As a hospital scientist I believed that hundreds of other species of animals suffer fear, pain and distress much as I did. Something had to be done about it. We needed to draw the parallel between the plight of the other species and our own.”
— Dr Richard Ryder, Advisory Board member of the Centre
